Tanner Overland

President & Founder

Tanner graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Aviation. He is a commercial pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, and licensed aerial applicator. He has logged nearly 3,000 flight hours performing pilot services, flight instruction, aerial survey and patrol, and aerial application.

Tanner’s professional background combines his passion for aviation and business, as he has held a variety of management and ownership positions at several aviation service providers. Tanner began his aviation career refueling and towing aircraft, eventually becoming a flight instructor to share his passion for flight and adventure with others, and eventually working towards operation management and ownership.

Tanner is an advocate for general aviation and serves on the board of directors for the North Dakota Aviation Association as well as the Williston High School Aviation Advisory Committee. Tanner is a proud member of Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Experimental Aircraft Association, the National Association of Flight Instructors, and a representative on the Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAASTeam).

 

 

Kyle Black

Vice President & Partner, Chief Pilot

Kyle graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commercial Aviation, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Aviation Management.

Kyle has logged over 4,700 hours and holds his single and multi-engine ATP Certificate, with a type-rating in the Beechcraft Premier Jet, with single-pilot authority (RA390S). He has his Commercial Pilot single-engine seaplane rating, and is rated for complex, high performance, high altitude, and tailwheel aircraft. He is also a Certified Flight Instructor, with Instrument and Multi-Engine Ratings.

Kyle is a member of Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). He is passionate about spreading the joy of aviation and is active with the EAA Young Eagles Program, taking dozens of children up for their first flight each year.

History

Founded in 2011 by Tanner Overland, Overland Aviation provides aviation and flight services to the Williston Basin and beyond. Originating as an aerial imagery and survey service provider, Overland Aviation has grown throughout the years to provide all aspects of aviation services to include a full-service FBO, aircraft maintenance and management, ground handling and ramp services for commercial airlines, aircraft deicing, part 135 Air Charters, commercial air tours, a Part 61 Flight School providing aircraft rental and aerial pipeline patrol.
